Assumptions
  • Rates are for Australian residents for tax purposes for the full income year. Non-resident and working holiday maker rates are not included.
  • The marginal rate shown is the statutory income tax rate on your next dollar and excludes the Medicare levy. In offset phase-out and Medicare shade-in ranges, the real rate on an extra dollar can be higher.
  • The low income tax offset (LITO) is included for every year. The low and middle income tax offset (LMITO) is included for 2020-21 and 2021-22, the final years it applied. Offsets are non-refundable and can only reduce income tax to $0.
  • The Medicare levy is 2% of taxable income, reduced for low-income earners using the single thresholds for each year. Family thresholds, exemptions, the seniors and pensioners tax offset (SAPTO) and the Medicare levy surcharge are not included.
  • 2026-27 Medicare levy low-income thresholds use the 2025-26 figures until the 2026-27 amounts are confirmed.
  • Study loan repayments use the ATO repayment thresholds for each year. From 2025-26, repayments are calculated on a marginal basis; for 2024-25 and earlier, a single rate applies to your whole repayment income. Repayment income is taxable income plus the optional amounts you enter.
  • Other tax offsets, rebates, and deductions not already reflected in your inputs are not included.
